Race of Hope
This is an invitation to return to Israel’s Western Negev – not only to run, but to meet its people, connect with their stories, and be part of the region’s renewal.
Three years after October 7, every step along the course connects remembrance with hope, pain with the choice to move forward.
The Race of Hope is a joint initiative of runners from the Western Negev, led by Aya Meidan Bachar of Kibbutz Be’eri, together with Marathon Israel. It was born from a desire to return to the trails and open spaces that were deeply affected, strengthen the local communities, and celebrate resilience and the strength of the human spirit.
The routes take runners through Western Negev communities, renewed fields, and memorial sites, with meaningful experiences along the way that turn the race into a journey – from loss to renewal. At the finish line, runners are welcomed into a celebration of the region, featuring a local market with art, jewelry, food and drinks, alongside live performances by local artists.
The event is open to everyone – runners, families, groups, and sports enthusiasts – because the renewal of the Western Negev is a story we can all be part of.
